At the Neighborhood health center, students shadow a medical interpreter, developing cultural competency training modules for the 70+ healthcare staff in topics ranging from sexual orientation/gender/being transgender, opioid epidemic, and the Hispanic community. Students previously also helped in the Hispanic population outreach, developed a monthly newsletter, and helped out in other random tasks like taking pictures of the healthcare staff. Other students have worked closely with specific admin staff according to their interests, as well as others have acquired clinical experience by volunteering at the clinic.
