Join the University of Cincinnati Alumni Association and the UC LGBTQ Center for an intimate evening with civil rights advocate Jim Obergefell (UC ’90). Mr. Obergefell was the plaintiff in the landmark Obergefell v. Hodges, where the Supreme Court of the United States decision legalized same-sex marriage in this country. For the past decade, he has traveled the globe speaking and advocating for LGBTQ rights and equality. Participants will have the opportunity to directly engage Mr. Obergefell to ask questions.
Moderating the conversation will be David Rees (UC ’22), award-winning journalism major and political science minor, and editor-in-chief of The News Record. Before being named to the top spot for TNR, he was chief reporter, coving issues to promote diversity and inclusion at UC. He said he is most proud of his “Living Openly” series, where he featured different LGBTQ+ faculty, staff, and students at the university.
